Doc Savage #13
Part of DC's First Wave line, this 2011 issue of Doc Savage promises pulp-flavored thrills right from the cover by J. G. Jones — a tense, atmospheric scene set in a shop crammed with brass lanterns, platters, and exotic wares, where a bandage-wrapped mummy figure has seized a khaki-clad figure by the head in a menacing grip. The story arc kicks off with "Raise the Kahn, Chapter One: Palace in the Sea," written and drawn by Jones with interior art by Qing Ping Mui, signaling an adventure with an evocative, globe-trotting scope. If this cover is any indication, the Man of Bronze's world is about to get a whole lot stranger.
