Pat Patton violently accosts gangster Fangs Foreman (who has taken over exiled mob-boss Lips Manlis' operations) out behind Foreman's nightclub, accusing Foreman of being the vicious knife-killer known as The Blank. Patton is run off by Foreman's bodyguards and, while Foreman is still outside his club, he is brutally knife-attacked by The Blank. Tracy arranges to meet Breathless Mahoney for a lead on The Blank but finds that The Blank has kidnapped her and suspended her over a "Batman-like" boiling vat of chemicals. While still clinging to life, Foreman accuses Pat Patton of being The Blank.
