Deadpool #9
Even by Deadpool's standards, this is a bad day at the beach — the cover by Arthur Adams drops the Merc with a Mouth into a deep-sea nightmare, surrounded by a frenzy of sharks while one colossal great white lunges straight at him with jaws wide open. Deadpool, suited up and weaponized, seems more defiant than terrified, which somehow makes the whole scene funnier and more tense at once. Writers Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan, with artist Mike Hawthorne and colorist Val Staples, bring their signature blend of absurdity and action to "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" — a title that suggests Wade Wilson's underwater predicament is about to get much, much worse.
