Deadpool #29
Tied into Marvel's "Original Sin" event, this 2014 issue wears its emotional weight right on its cover: a weathered family portrait labeled "Wilsons" shows two adults — their faces crossed out in dark, heavy X's — flanking a small child whose face bears Deadpool's unmistakable mask, the whole image stained with blood spatters. Declan Shalvey's restrained, almost mournful cover design says more with a defaced photograph than most action scenes manage with a dozen explosions. Writers Posehn and Duggan, with art by John Lucas and colors by Val Staples, promise a story digging into the darker corners of Wade Wilson's past.
