“Paradigm Lost”

In Deadpool #-1 (1997), written by Joe Kelly and illustrated by Aaron Lopresti, the story "Paradigm Lost" kicks off with Zoe, a coldly calculating executive from Landau, Luckman and Lake, orchestrating a bizarre recruitment mission. Disguised as a streetwalker, she teams up with Vanessa, a mercenary’s girlfriend, in a tense, darkly comic setup that quickly spirals when Wade Wilson—already wrestling with a devastating secret—abandons her. The cover by Aaron Lopresti captures the uneasy blend of irony and danger at the heart of this early, offbeat entry in Deadpool’s saga.
