Dead of Night Featuring Man-Thing #2
Marvel's MAX imprint pushed its horror credentials hard in 2008, and this second issue of the limited series makes the case vividly: Kaare Andrews's cover depicts the monstrous, glowing-eyed Man-Thing looming over a human figure engulfed in roaring flames, the creature's mass of writhing tendrils filling the frame with genuine dread. Medallion portraits along the left side flag the featured players — Jennifer Kale, Andrew Kale, and the ominous Digger — hinting at a story with real human stakes tangled up in something far darker. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa writes "The Dark Lady" with art from Brian Denham and Nick Percival, making this a strong chapter in one of Marvel's more unsettling corners of the MAX line.
