In "The Empty Bus!", a rain-soaked night and a deserted bus become the stage for a chilling encounter when a desperate mobster boards to track down a fugitive former associate. An enigmatic old man offers him a grim prophecy—foretelling his own death at the hands of the man he's hunting—before the mobster steps off into his fate. Penciled and inked by Syd Shores, this eerie tale unfolds with quiet dread, while John Romita’s cover captures the story’s haunting mood.

A mobster gets on a bus during a rainy night that has no other riders in order to track down one of his former boys who took it on the lam. Suddenly a strange old man appears beside him and offers to tell him a story. He foretells the mobster's death at the hand of the younger man as they struggle for the mobster's gun, but the criminal does not heed the prophecy and gets off the bus to meet with his appointed destiny.
