DC Universe Presents #2

Part of DC's ambitious New 52 initiative, this 2013 volume from writer James Robinson and artist Bernard Chang puts the immortal Vandal Savage squarely in the spotlight. Ryan Sook's cover is a striking split composition — the bearded, brooding Savage looming large on one side, a sharp-eyed armed woman on the other, with a lone shadowy figure caught between them in a wash of crimson. IGN praised the collection for effectively expanding Savage family lore, and a story titled "Daddy's Little Girl" makes that family tension feel very personal indeed.
