Eduardo Barreto's cover pulls no punches — literally — as a red-suited Captain Comet bears down on Superman in a burst of explosive energy, the Man of Steel visibly struggling beneath him. The cover copy makes the stakes plain: 100,000 years of evolution puts Captain Comet mentally and physically above Superman, so the real question blazed across the bottom is what could possibly turn him evil. It's a genuinely compelling hero-vs.-hero setup that makes this 1986 DC Comics Presents team-up hard to pass up.
