Dark Reign: The Hood #1

Part of Marvel's 2009 Dark Reign event, this first issue of a five-part limited series wastes no time establishing its antihero's grim appeal. Marko Djurdjević's cover depicts the Hood mid-action — dual pistols raised, his dark cloak billowing like demon wings against a snow-swept urban skyline — projecting both menace and a kind of desperate intensity. With Jeff Parker writing and Kyle Hotz on interior art, "Payday" promises a street-level crime story with a distinctly supernatural edge.
