Hawkman and Hawkgirl consult with a group on immortals about a secret ancient metal that changed history in some unknown way. Wonder Woman helps Batman in his quest to find the truth about the ancient metal and gives him the Sunblade, made of the Eigth Metal. At the Batcave, the Joker tells Hal Jordan and Duke Thomas of his connection with the metal. Hawkman enlists the Blackhawks and the Challengers of the unknown to help unravel the mystery, while Batman bargains with Talia for the source of the Ninth Metal, and the Joker turns the tables on Hal and Duke.
