“The Man Without Fear Chapter 1”

In *Daredevil: The Man without Fear* #1 (1994), a young Matt, once a troublemaker in Hell’s Kitchen, loses his sight after a life-saving act—only to be drawn into a world of violence and shadow when he crosses paths with Battling Murdock, a down-on-his-luck boxer entangled with a mobster’s protection scheme. As Matt learns to navigate his new reality, he’s guided by Stick, the gym’s quiet janitor, who begins to teach him the discipline of the warrior. Written by Frank Miller and illustrated by John Romita Jr., with inks by Al Williamson, colors by Christie Scheele, and letters by Joe Rosen, this first chapter of *The Man without Fear* sets a gritty, grounded tone, with the cover by John Romita Jr. capturing the intensity of a man facing his greatest challenge—blind, but never afraid.
