Daredevil: The Man Without Fear #[nn]
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 2010 hardcover collects the five-issue miniseries by Frank Miller and John Romita Jr., which reimagines Matt Murdock's origin story from his childhood in Hell's Kitchen through the accident that gives him radar senses and his early days as Daredevil. It strips the character down to his gritty, street-level roots, focusing on his relationships with his father Battling Jack Murdock, mentor Stick, and first love Elektra.
In "The Man Without Fear Chapter 1," a young Matt, once a troublemaker in Hell's Kitchen, loses his sight after saving a man from a speeding truck. As he struggles to rebuild his life, he crosses paths with Battling Murdock, a down-on-his-luck boxer entangled with a mobster's protection scheme, while a mysterious janitor named Stick begins to guide him in the ways of discipline and combat. The story unfolds in the gritty streets of Hell's Kitchen, where violence, loyalty, and fate collide.
In "The Man Without Fear Chapter 2," Matt tracks down the men responsible for his father's death, facing brutal choices and tragic consequences along the way. After a violent confrontation leaves a woman dead by accident, even his mentor Stick turns away from him. As Matt tries to rebuild—starting college and sharing a room with Foggy—his path crosses with Elektra one night in the city’s shadows, setting off a new, uncertain chapter.
In "The Man Without Fear Chapter 3," Matt prowls the shadows of Elektra’s home, chasing secrets beneath the surface of a woman who both challenges and consumes him. As their bond deepens through intense training and a fierce, reckless romance, a warning from Stick casts doubt—her past, it seems, is a storm he may not survive. When tragedy strikes and the Kingpin rises, Matt is left wondering who truly walks in the light—and who hides in the dark.
In "The Man Without Fear Chapter 4," Matt returns to New York City and finds a young runaway named Mickey hiding in his father's old gym. When the Kingpin takes Mickey hostage to force her into a pornographic film, Matt sets out to track him down, drawn into a dangerous game where every move could cost him everything.
