☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects the first half of Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev's final Daredevil story arc, following Matt Murdock as he faces the fallout of his secret identity being publicly exposed. The collection includes Daredevil #82-87, where the Kingpin returns from prison to exploit the chaos in Matt's life while the FBI closes in on the man without fear.
In "The Devil in Cell-Block D Part One," Matt Murdock faces brutal isolation behind bars, his absence from Hell's Kitchen leaving the streets vulnerable to unseen threats—especially when a figure in a Daredevil costume begins patrolling in his name. Though locked away, Matt still fights to survive the prison’s violence, while his friends Foggy and Dakota risk everything to reach him, only to face harsh consequences when Foggy is brutally beaten and Matt is powerless to intervene.
In "The Devil in Cell-Block D Part Two," Matt is briefly freed from prison to attend Foggy's funeral, only to be returned to the harsh reality of general population. There, he faces a violent clash with the Owl, testing his resolve in a world that sees him as a criminal, not a hero.
In "The Devil in Cell-Block D Part Three," Matt faces off against Hammerhead inside the prison, desperate to uncover who ordered Foggy's death, while outside, Dakota and Urich race to follow up on leads that might reveal the truth. With Bullseye now in the cell-block, Kingpin back among the inmates, and the Punisher having orchestrated his own arrest to get inside, the tension in the prison reaches a boiling point.
In "The Devil in Cell-Block D Part Four," the prison is rife with tension after Foggy’s killer is found dead in his cell, and the whispers point squarely at Matt Murdock. With the Punisher now inside, Matt shares a rare moment of vulnerability, while a chilling standoff unfolds between him and Kingpin in the yard—each probing the truth behind Foggy’s death.
In "The Devil in Cell-Block D Part Five," chaos erupts during a prison riot with Kingpin as the target, forcing Daredevil, Kingpin, and Bullseye into an unexpected alliance for survival. Amid the violence, Matt Murdock tracks down the Punisher in the confusion, pleading for his help to escape the escalating slaughter.
In "The Devil in Cell Block D Finale," Daredevil, newly freed from prison with Punisher’s help, races to stop the man impersonating him while he was incarcerated—someone who’s already killed Foggy. With support from Iron Fist, Dakota, and Urich, Matt prepares to vanish across borders to track down the truth, only to discover the man he thought was dead is very much alive and hiding in plain sight.
