Daredevil #8
The cover of this 2014 issue delivers something quietly unsettling: a group of children — ranging from toddler to teen — stare straight out with blank, glowing white eyes against a wash of deep purple. Chris Samnee's minimalist linework makes the image feel both mundane and deeply wrong, the ordinariness of their clothing and postures clashing with those hollow, luminous gazes. Mark Waid, Samnee, and colorist Matthew Wilson were clearly in excellent creative sync here, and this cover alone is enough to make you want to find out what's going on inside.
