Daredevil #32
Daredevil faces his strangest crowd yet in this 2013 Marvel offering from Mark Waid and Chris Samnee — the Man Without Fear stands his ground, billy clubs raised, in front of a burning pitchfork-wielding mob backdrop while surrounded by classic monster-movie horrors: a zombie, a cloaked vampiress, a Frankenstein's monster, a werewolf, and a mummy, all looming beneath a full moon and a gothic castle. Samnee's line work captures both the pulpy thrill of the retro-styled logo and the genuine menace of the creature ensemble, with Javier Rodríguez's colors giving the flames and moonlit blues a vivid, cinematic depth. If you enjoy your street-level heroes dropped into gloriously unsettling supernatural territory, this issue's cover alone makes a compelling case.
