Daredevil #30
Against a nighttime Manhattan skyline, Daredevil crouches atop a rooftop ledge while the Silver Surfer hovers below, glowing with cosmic energy and surfboard gleaming, in a striking composition by Eisner Award-winning cover artist Chris Samnee. The cool blues of the city backdrop make the Surfer's ethereal light and Daredevil's red suit pop with real visual drama — colorist Javier Rodríguez deserves serious credit here. Mark Waid's 2013 run on Daredevil had been one of Marvel's most inventive, and a meeting between Hell's Kitchen's guardian and the herald of Galactus is exactly the kind of unexpected pairing that made this era so much fun.
