“The Charming Chump”

In "The Charming Chump," Daffy Duck finds himself living the dream—homeowner with a full fridge, while Elmer Fudd is reduced to a shivering, hungry beggar. But the magic behind this sudden turn of fortune isn’t what it seems, as the real source of the spell is Elmer’s own mischievous fairy, quietly orchestrating a scheme to teach Daffy a lesson in his own brand of mooching. Written by Michael Maltese and illustrated by Phil De Lara, this 1970 Western Publishing classic delivers classic slapstick with a clever twist, all rendered in bold colors by the Western Publishing Production Shop. The cover, penciled by De Lara, captures the moment perfectly.

Daffy’s good fairy magically fixes things so that Daffy is the homeowner with the stocked refrigerator, and Elmer is the starving, homeless moocher. However, it is soon revealed that “Daffy’s good fairy” is, in actuality, Elmer’s good fairy – who encourages Elmer to do his tricky and annoying worst to continually harass Daffy, and give the duck a taste of his own mooching medicine.
