Curse of the Spawn #27 kicks off "Return of Suture, Part I" with a genuinely unsettling cover by penciler Dwayne Turner and inker Chance Wolf — a grotesque, hulking creature dominates the image, its decayed face and massive clawed hands pressing toward a terrified young woman whose horrified expression is reflected in a blood-spattered mirror. The gritty, visceral imagery perfectly captures the dark horror tone that made this Image series stand out in 1998, and with the interior creative team of writer Alan McElroy and artist Clayton Crain on board, there's real craft behind the dread.
