The arc subtitle "Bullets and Braces" says it all — this sixth issue of Gail Simone and Cat Staggs's Crosswind arrives with both barrels (and a blade) pointed forward. The cover shows a man in a dark jacket gripping a knife while a dark-haired woman crouches in front of him, pistol aimed squarely outward, both radiating steely determination against a swirling amber and fire-tinged background with watchful eyes looming behind them. It's a tense, stylish close-out to this Image series that makes clear the stakes for these two deeply complicated characters have never been higher.
