“A Toast... to Death!”

"A Toast... to Death!" is a chilling tale from Crime SuspenStories #6 (1951), a standout entry in EC Comics' acclaimed crime anthology series. Written, drawn, and inked by Johnny Craig—whose distinctive style and sharp storytelling elevate this tale of domestic betrayal and twisted irony—this story follows a woman who kills her husband for neglect, only to find her scheme unraveled by an unexpected, haunting detail tied to his prized grapevine. The cover, also by Craig, captures the story’s eerie, fatal allure with its stark, expressive composition.
