This October 1999 issue of Cracked arrives with a cover by John Severin that perfectly captures the magazine's irreverent spirit — five caricatured figures meant to evoke a boy band are wrapped head-to-toe in tape and bound together, mouths gagged, holding a ticket stub for a "Special Taping of the Backstreet Boys" MTV Total Request Live event. The gag is gloriously silly, and Severin's expressive linework gives each mummy-wrapped figure a distinct, wonderfully exaggerated personality. Inside, Greg Grabianski and Frank Cummings serve up "The Cracked Guide to Boy Groups," alongside promised parodies of Star Wars, Mystery Men, and Inspector Gadget.
