Cowboy Western Comics #23 is an anthology featuring three stories: "Denver Mudd and Bushey Barns," a humorous tale in which Bushey Barns seeks Denver Mudd's help to attract an eligible bachelor, but their scheme backfires when they mistake a wanted criminal for their target; "Daniel Boone—Adventurer," a historical account of the pioneer's early life, his family's migration to North Carolina, and his dangerous encounters with Indians and British forces during the Revolutionary War period; and a tall tale about Paul Bunyan, depicting how the legendary lumberjack brought giant redwoods from California and used his enormous ox to haul lumber across the landscape.
