“The Great Gillywump Hunt!”

In "The Great Gillywump Hunt!", Cosmo the Merry Martian and his friend Orbi venture to the Dark Side of the Moon, where they encounter the mysterious, noise-making Gillywump—only to discover the creature is just a lonely alien with a terrible cold. Written by Sy Reit and illustrated by Bob White—with inks by Terry Szenics and letters by Victor Gorelick—this 1958 adventure blends whimsy and wonder, as the Moonlings set off for Earth to find a cure, while Professor Thimk and Astra launch a rescue mission. The cover, also by Bob White, captures the eerie yet playful tone of the tale.

On the moon, Cosmo and Orbi are told by the Moonlings that the Dark Side of the Moon is inhabited by a terrifying unseen creature called the Gillywump, who emits spooky noises. The Martians go to investigate and find that the Gillywump is a harmless creature who makes "GRONK!" noises because he has a terrible cold. The Moonlings decide to visit Earth to find a cure for the Gillywump's cold. Meanwhile, Professor Thimk and Astra take off in a rocket to rescue Cosmo and Orbi.
