Mike Docherty's cover for this May 1986 issue fills the frame with Conan's snarling, battle-worn face — blue eyes blazing beneath a great horned helmet — as he grips a bound captive by cords of rope, teeth clenched with fierce intensity. The extreme close-up composition gives the scene an almost visceral immediacy, perfectly suited to the story's grim title, "Harvest of Death." It's a striking, no-frills declaration of what this series does best: raw, uncompromising Hyborian tension rendered with confident, muscular linework.
