Conan sneaks into one of the temples of Stygia in search of Thutothmes. Conan emerges from the Stygian temple with the Heart of Ahriman. Xaltotun and his conspirators learn that Conan is not dead and is returning to Aquilonia to reclaim his throne. Tarascus begins his defense of his kingdom as Conan's army approaches. Valerius is lured into an ambush. Conan and his army defeat Xaltotun and the army of Tarascus and Conan is restored as king of Aquilonia.
