Conan the Barbarian #77

This August 1977 issue puts Conan at the mercy of something enormous — the cover, penciled by Gil Kane and inked by Ernie Chan, shows the muscular Cimmerian dagger in hand, grappling with the massive coiled tail of a towering reptilian creature whose skeletal victims litter the arena floor around him. A crowned figure watches from above as a crowd looks on, and the cover's teasing caption — "Behind that door lurks… Death, Ten Feet Tall!" — perfectly sets up the story title "When Giants Walk the Earth!" Inside, Roy Thomas scripts and John Buscema draws, making this a strong creative pairing for fans of sword-and-sorcery adventure at its most visceral.
