Conan the Barbarian #13
Barry Windsor-Smith's cover for this January 1972 Marvel issue pulls you straight into the chaos — a muscular Conan is caught in a massive spider's web, arrows piercing the air around him, while a pack of snarling, ape-like creatures closes in below. A smaller inset figure of Conan stands defiantly at the top, axe in hand, hinting at the full scope of the peril promised by the story title "Web of the Spider-God." With Roy Thomas and John Jakes on the script and Barry Smith handling the interior art, this is a strong entry in Marvel's early Hyborian Age adventures.
