“The Return of Styrm Part 1”

Conan: Return of Styrm #1 kicks off with the Cimmerian forced into an uneasy alliance with the town of Valdover, where he’s been summoned not as a hero, but as a reluctant replacement for the mercenaries he’d previously slain. With the dragon Styrm returning and the town’s sorceress holding his fate in her hands, Conan must confront the past he thought he’d left behind. Written by Matt Nixon and brought to life by Paolo Parente’s dynamic art—penciled and inked for the cover—this first chapter sets a tense, atmospheric tone with a mystery that’s as much about duty as it is about survival.

Conan is brought in as an unwilling savior of the town of Valdover. Apparently, he had killed the mercenaries who were scheduled to save the town from the ravages of the dragon Styrm. As a result, the sorceress in charge of the town used a combination of threats and bribes to secure his word to save the town instead.
