In "Hodeskallens brorskap," King Conan returns to Aquilonia from the New World to find his kingdom fallen into ruin, its streets thick with decadence and its throne usurped by a shadowy figure who rules with an iron grip—both crown and queen now in the hands of a stranger.

In "Havets hodeskalle del 4 Døden i ukjent land," Conan races from the serpent men's advance toward an unknown land, where he finds refuge with a local tribe. Guided by their warning, he must awaken a slumbering rainbow serpent—ancient guardian of the realm—to face the dark forces pursuing him, including the ever-lurking Thulsa Doom and the sorcerer Thoth-Amon.
