In "De mörka klippornas demoner," Conan and Bêlit venture onto a cursed island where stranded Argos sailors are trapped by grotesque crab-men. With cunning and brute force, Conan lures the creatures into a boiling geothermal zone, turning their own lair against them.

In "Döden vid Svarta kusten," Bêlit leads her black crew up a treacherous river toward a forgotten ruin said to hold a hidden treasure, unaware that the ancient, cursed inhabitants—now reduced to a demonic ape—will stop at nothing to protect their sanctuary. As the apes unleash a pack of enchanted hyenas to slaughter her men, Bêlit meets her end, leaving Conan to face the horror alone. In the final moments, he is saved not by strength, but by the ghost of the woman he once knew.

In "Döden har många ben," Conan finds himself captive among the Bamula tribe, where he must face their war-chief Yorubo in a deadly duel for survival. The challenge pits him against a pit filled with a monstrous spider, testing both courage and cunning in a fight that could make him their new leader.
