In "For Zamboulas trones skyld," Conan endures brutal torment at the hands of the sorcerer Zafra, only to see his captor fall by his own cursed blade. With the help of Farouz—whose true identity hides a rival ambition—Conan crosses paths with Rufia, Othbaal’s slave girl who, in a desperate bid to survive, convinces Akhirom he is a god, sparking chaos. As the city burns from within, Conan and Rufia flee the palace, escaping just as the factions tear each other apart.
