In "Trollmannen og sjelen," young Conan infiltrates the fortress of the sorcerer Hisarr Zul in Arenjun, drawn by rumors of the legendary Eye of Erlik. Amidst treacherous traps and deadly rivals—including Ajhindar, Isparana, and Karamek, each with their own agenda—Conan is outmaneuvered and betrayed, left to face a cruel fate when Hisarr Zul traps his soul in a mirror and forces him on a perilous quest to reclaim the stolen talisman.

In "En vandrer i ørkenen," Conan treks across the scorching desert toward Zamboula, driven by the hunt for Isparana and the stolen Eye of Erlik. After surviving an ambush at an oasis and encountering the Turanian soldier Arsil, he learns of a perilous mountain pass guarded by a sand demon—Hisarr Zul’s brother Tosya—who offers a grim bargain: kill Hisarr Zul or face the demon’s wrath.

In "Svart lotus og gul død," Conan journeys to an isolated oasis where he confronts the sorcerer Isparana, trading the mystical Eye of Erlik for a cleverly crafted replica. Captured by slavers and freed only by the unexpected aid of Arsil, the Turanian soldier, Conan makes his way back to Arenjun—only to find his trust betrayed when the talisman is handed over to the treacherous Hisarr Zul, who attempts to kill him.
