In "Den svarta hämnaren," Conan and Fafnir find themselves aboard a Turanian dragon ship near the city of Makkalet, caught in a web of betrayal and violence. When Conan infiltrates Tarim’s temple only to slay a colossal black hound and flee, Fafnir is cast overboard by the Turanian commander Balthaz, who sees him as dead weight. With vengeance burning, Conan turns on Balthaz and escapes the enemy vessel, setting his sights on retribution.
In "Saurons skugga," Havok, injured and brought to the scientist Dr. Karl Lykos—a friend of Professor X—unwittingly unleashes a dark transformation when Lykos, secretly a vampiric predator, drains his mutant energy. The stolen power mutates Lykos into the monstrous Sauron, a human-like flying abomination. As the X-Men's Angel tracks Sauron down, he's ensnared by the creature's hypnotic influence, leaving the team to face a threat born from betrayal and stolen power.
