Complete Love Magazine #5 [173]
In "Her Threat Over Us," Arlene’s trip to Cuba to source gifts for her Connecticut shop takes a dramatic turn when she’s mistaken for the elusive Zelma by a man named Burke. As their romance deepens, Arlene is haunted by Burke’s silence about the woman who once stole his heart—until she learns Zelma was a gold-digger who used him for money. Back home, Arlene considers ending her engagement, fearing she’ll always be compared to her shadowy double. But after a tense meeting with the real Zelma, she realizes their personalities couldn’t be more different—and that Burke sees her for who she truly is. Art by Alice Kirkpatrick, this 1953 issue of Complete Love Magazine captures a quietly powerful story of identity, mistaken identity, and self-worth.
