Young widow Shayne works in Jeff's office and cares for her late husband's little girl Babs. Jeff has a childhood phobia about secondhand goods, always demanding new items. Jeff and Shayne become engaged, but she refrains from telling him of her previous marriage. She also claims Babs belongs to a friend, and warns Babs she'll be sent away to a boarding school after Shayne marries Jeff. Babs runs away and Shayne confesses all to Jeff. Babs is found, safe and sound, and Jeff agrees to get over his phobia and marry "secondhand" Shayne.
