Collapser #3

From DC's Young Animal imprint comes this wildly imaginative third issue of Collapser, titled "Black Holes and Revelations." The cover by Ilias Kyriazis sets a striking scene high above a patchwork countryside, where a hot-air balloon carries two very different passengers: a young man in a jacket throwing a punch, and a skull-faced figure in a wide-brimmed hat and duster clutching what appears to be a mysterious orb — all while flames roar through the burner above them. Writers Mikey Way and Shaun Simon continue to show why this series has such a distinctive voice, and with Cris Peter's warm, atmospheric colors wrapping the whole scene in golden light, this issue looks as visually compelling as any in the run.
