Classic X-Men #22
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeA towering stone-grey creature with glowing yellow eyes dominates this June 1988 cover, its massive clawed hand reaching toward the viewer as the X-Men scramble across a rubble-strewn landscape around it — Wolverine in his yellow-and-blue suit, Cyclops in blue, Storm commanding the upper right with her white hair flowing, Havok in green, and a feral-looking figure among others caught in the chaos. Arthur Adams's cover pencils and inks bring a real sense of scale and urgency to the scene, pitting Marvel's mutant team against a genuinely imposing threat in what the title promises is a Savage Land adventure. With Chris Claremont and John Byrne's story given fresh presentation here, this is a fine place to revisit one of the great creative partnerships in X-Men history.
