Civil War MGC #1
"Civil War Part One of Seven" kicks off Marvel’s landmark 2010 event with explosive consequences: after Nitro’s devastating explosion kills hundreds, the government pushes a controversial registration bill forcing all heroes to swear allegiance to the U.S. government. As tensions flare, the superhero community fractures—Captain America stands in opposition, Iron Man backs the bill, and even allies like the Human Torch find themselves caught in the crossfire. Written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Steve McNiven, with inks by Dexter Vines and colors by Morry Hollowell, the issue sets the stage for a war of ideals, with a cover by Michael Turner capturing the storm of division.

The New Warriors take on four super baddies. Nitro explodes, killing 600 people and wrecking part of the city. The government responds by proposing a bill that would require all "superheroes" to register and work for Uncle Sam. The Human Torch is beaten outside of a nightclub. The heroes gather to discuss the new bill and there is a definite split between them. Cap meets with Director Hill of SHIELD and finds himself in conflict with the spy organization. Iron Man tells the president to go ahead and pass the registration bill and he will take care of the dissenters. The Civil War has begun.
