Civil War: Front Line #2
This volume collects the second half of the Civil War: Front Line limited series, which follows journalists Ben Urich and Sally Floyd as they report on the escalating conflict between superheroes during Marvel's Civil War event. The book also includes tie-in stories focusing on Speedball, the New Warriors, and other characters affected by the Superhuman Registration Act.
In "Embedded, Part Eight," Ben races to uncover the truth behind the Atlantean sleeper cell's destruction, only to realize the Green Goblin was behind the attack. Meanwhile, Sally meets a mysterious stranger who quietly reveals himself to be Captain America, setting the stage for a tense and unexpected alliance.
In "The Accused, Part Eight," Director Hill investigates the crash that left Speedball critically injured during transport, grappling with the mystery of how the ambulance was destroyed. She-Hulk, still reeling from the same accident that blinded her, struggles to recall key details, while Mr. Fantastic confirms Speedball’s condition is stable—though his powers are shifting in unpredictable ways.
In "Sleeper Cell, Part Six," a delegation from Atlantis arrives on Earth to investigate the death of their missing operatives, claiming they were peaceful missionaries seeking to understand human culture. Tensions rise when Ambassador Govan is suddenly shot by the unstable Norman Osborn, throwing the fragile diplomatic mission into chaos.
In "Embedded, Part Ten," as the final clash of the Civil War erupts across New York City, Ben and Sally find themselves drawn together, each convinced they hold a piece of the truth about Iron Man’s real intentions behind the superhero registration initiative. With tension high and loyalties tested, their meeting becomes a pivotal moment in the storm of conflicting ideals.
In "The Accused, Part Ten," Speedball faces the man who shot him—the father of a girl killed in the Stamford explosion—forcing him to confront the weight of his past and the cost of his heroism. Though now free and willing to register under the new law, his transformation is physical and painful: he burns his old uniform and dons a new one lined with spikes, both inside and out. The journey from the upbeat Speedball to the tormented Penance begins here, with no clear path forward—only the burden of what comes next.
In "Embedded, Part Eleven," reporters Ben and Sally navigate the fractured aftermath of the Civil War, pressing Captain America and Tony Stark for the truths behind their choices. As tensions simmer and allegiances blur, the duo launches their own publication, Frontlines, determined to uncover the real story behind the headlines.
