Chew #51
Rob Guillory's cover for Chew #51 puts a delightfully absurd spin on Easter, featuring a chocolate bunny sculpted in the unmistakable likeness of series protagonist Tony Chu — complete with glasses and a stoic expression — nestled in a teal gift basket alongside candy-colored decorated eggs, a pink chick, and a yellow chick dressed in a tie. The finishing touch is an egg in the foreground inscribed with the words "THEY LIE," a small but perfectly placed reminder that John Layman and Rob Guillory never miss a chance to sneak something unsettling into the sweetness. If this is where "Chapter 1" begins, this 2015 Image series is clearly still having a tremendous amount of fun with its premise.
