The "Family Recipes" arc reaches its conclusion with this quietly intense cover from Rob Guillory — two faces fill the frame in extreme close-up, one open-mouthed and wide-eyed while a hand presses a peculiar spotted earpiece against the other figure's ear, the whole composition radiating unease beneath that warm golden palette. John Layman and Guillory have built Chew into one of Image's most inventive series, and issue #40 looks like a fittingly tense payoff to this five-part family saga.
