Chew #11
Rob Guillory's cover for Chew #11 sets a wonderfully absurd tone for "Just Desserts, Part 1 of 5": a elegantly dressed blonde woman with a notepad and a tuxedo-clad man raising a pistol stand composed and unfazed behind a massive, bloodied woolly mammoth carcass, complete with curling tusks and a small skull resting nearby in the snow. It's a perfect snapshot of the series' gift for blending fine-dining sophistication with utterly bizarre carnage. John Layman and Rob Guillory's 2010 Image series continues to be one of the sharpest, strangest rides in comics.
