Chamber of Chills #1

Nov 1972 · Marvel · 0.20 USD
“Moon of Madness, Moon of Fear!”

"Moon of Madness, Moon of Fear!" kicks off Chamber of Chills #1 with a chilling blend of suspense and psychological dread, as a sadistic warden’s reign of terror reaches a bloody climax. Written by Stan Lee and brought to life with stark, gripping art by Russ Heath, the story follows the warden’s desperate flight from the very inmates he’s tormented—his only escape now a grim choice between lingering poison and a violent end. Gil Kane’s cover, inked by Tom Palmer, captures the dread perfectly, setting the tone for a tale where fear is the true executioner.

After an execution in the gas chamber, a sadistic warden faces a revolt by the inmates and attempts to flee downstairs. The inmates pursue him and, as the story ends, the warden realizes he has a choice between two dooms; the poisonous fumes still lingering in the execution chamber or being torn to shreds by the maddened inmates.
