Challengers of the Unknown #7

Sep 1991 · DC · 1.75 USD; 2.25 CAD; 1.00 GBP
“Another World!”

In "Another World!", the Challengers of the Unknown—Ace, Red, and Rocky—confront the aftermath of Challenger Mountain’s destruction, guided by Harold Moffett as they retrieve their gear and fly toward the site. Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale deliver a haunting, atmospheric journey as the team is driven into a surreal alternate reality, where the familiar becomes unnerving and the line between worlds begins to fray. The eerie, dreamlike tone is heightened by Art Adams’ striking cover and Lovern Kindzierski’s vivid colors, making this a standout entry in the series’ legacy.

Ace, Red, and Rocky meet at the graves of Prof and June as Harold Moffett explains Duncan Pramble blew up Challenger Mountain. The guys obtain gear from a warehouse of theirs and fly for Challenger Mountain, but Ace is possessed by demons. They bail out as the aircar hits the mountain and climb to see the ruins. The locals have gone nuts, worshipping at an altar, but are chased off. Ace thinks there is a tear in reality and the Challengers get sucked to a farm where they ring a farmhouse door and Prof and June welcome them. The farm is in a fishbowl with the demon N'Zrath looming over them.
