DC's Young Animal imprint continues its psychedelic underground odyssey with this 2017 issue, featuring a cover by Michael Avon Oeming that throws Cave Carson headlong through a swirling cosmic landscape of giant gears and crackling golden energy. A young woman leaps through the chaos beside him, while a massive, unsettling masked face looms in the upper corner and vignettes of supporting characters orbit the composition in circular insets. Gerard Way and Jon Rivera's series has rarely looked more gloriously unhinged, and Nick Filardi's vibrant purples and golds make the whole thing practically hum off the page.
