Michael Avon Oeming's artwork — colored by Nick Filardi — depicts two figures ensnared within a gnarled, twisting mass of living tree roots and branches: a blonde woman struggling against the tendrils and a red-clad figure whose face appears grotesquely merged with or emerging from the wood itself. It's a beautifully strange image that captures exactly the kind of weird, organic dread that makes this Gerard Way and Jon Rivera series such a distinctive corner of the DC universe.
