Part of DC's Elseworlds line, this 1994 annual from writer Christopher Priest and artist Federico Cueva (with cover by Jim Balent) imagines Catwoman in a wildly different setting — and Balent's cover makes the promise vivid. A feral, snarling Catwoman lunges forward in scale armor and fur trim, claws spread wide, against a backdrop of jungle foliage and ancient stone ruins, while two other similarly clad women pursue behind her beneath a blood-red sun. It's a striking, kinetic image that signals an Elseworlds adventure well off Gotham's grid.
