Catwoman #35
Catwoman finds herself in a genuinely harrowing situation on this 1996 cover, as she clings to what appears to be a massive spiked wheel adorned with flaming skulls and skeletal remains, with arrows flying all around her against a pit of darkness below. Jim Balent's pencils and inks — finished here with John Dell — render the scene with a lurching, vertigo-inducing energy that perfectly suits a story titled "The Wheel of Plagues." With Chuck Dixon scripting and Selina Kyle at the center of what looks like an ancient, booby-trapped deathtrap, this issue promises the kind of globe-trotting peril that made this era of the series such a treat.
