“Thieves”

Four figures bathed in hellish red light make Jim Balent's cover for Catwoman #29 (1996) genuinely unsettling — Catwoman herself is front and center, her iconic goggles filled with the image of cash, clutching a glowing torch, while three looming figures crowd in behind her, each wearing the same money-filled lenses. The dripping, flame-lit border and that shared fixation on wealth set a wonderfully sinister tone for a story titled "Thieves." Chuck Dixon and Balent were clearly having a great time building atmosphere on this one.
